Makerere University Starts Search For New Chancellor
Makerere University has commenced the process to find a new chancellor that will replace incumbent Prof Ezra Suruma.
The university secretary Yusuf Kiranda has called for nominations from all those interested in taking up the position.
Candidates for nomination must be Ugandan citizens not less that 55 years of age, nor above 75 by the time of nomination.
One must be a Ugandan citizen not holding any position such as chancellor, deputy chancellor or staff at an academic institution. Candidates must not be students at any university.
Nominees must be of of high integrity with good public relations and holders of at least a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
Those nominated will be vetted and one of them will be appointed as the new chancellor of Makerere University.
The chancellor will hold the position for four years and his term maybe renewed only once depending on prevailing circumstances.
The chancellor presides over all ceremonies of the university and coders degrees and academic titles of the university.
