Fraternity at Makerere University is in grief following the passing of Irene Nabaggala, a graduand at the institution who was set to graduate at the 74th graduation ceremony this month.

Reports received by this website indicate that the Nabaggala (aged 22) took her own life after battling depression for a while.

Whereas the University management has not released a formal statement on the unfortunate incident, this reporter has established that the deceased completed her Bachelors of Science in Biotechnology, Microbiology and Immunology last year.

Richard Lugya, a friend to Nabaggala, has eulogized her saying: “Irene left a mark at BSSM (Bishop’s Senior School Mukono), where she emerged as our best female candidate in the UCE 2017 examinations.

“May Irene’s memory inspire open conversations about mental health, reminding us that no struggle is too great to overcome”

Nabaggala’s body was laid to rest on Monday at Kungu, Wakiso.

May her soul rest in eternal peace
